2022 Hair Trends for Women with Thinning Hair

2022 Hair Trends for Women with Thinning Hair

It's 2022 and it's the perfect time to start fresh - new plans, new resolutions, new habits, new dreams to fulfill and new haircuts too. Usually the problem with modern trends is that they don't necessarily suit women with thinning hair... but not this year... Several of the 2022 haircut trends are perfect hairstyles for thin hair and the good news for all of us is that short strands are officially in!

Short, clean, high-impact cuts are on their way so take the opportunity to chop off some 2021 dead weight with confidence. Be inspired by a timeless, jaw-grazing bob, a refined pixie cut or the new 60's-inspired shag. Either way, your fine, thin locks is in good hands as we've featured our Top 2022 hairstyles for thinning hair here:

The Jawline Bob - The Ultimate Cut for Thinning Hair

We've mentioned the Blunt Bob before as it's one of the best hairstyles for fine, thin and thinning hair. The 2022 Bob should stop exactly at the jawline with a crisp and clean finish but a softer, textured look can also be achieved by requesting slightly uneven layers to give a modern edge. Having your stylist use a razor will give your Bob a more feathery finish but regardless of which option you choose, the overall shape will highlight your neckline and jaw and frame your face.

The best thing about a short Bob cut in a blunt manner, is that it gives you many different styling options. Go for some bouncy volume by adding some Boost N Blend Female Hair Fibres and some textured waves or opt for a more sleek finish by styling your hair straight and then parting it down the middle with an uneven  part. If you're looking for a hairstyle for thin hair to make it look thicker, this one's a winner and certainly worth the leap of faith!

The New Pixie - A Perfect Way to Make Thin Hair Look Thicker

Audrey Hepburn pretty much guaranteed that the Pixie Cut would be a timeless classic, and when it comes to 2022 haircut trends, the Pixie Cut is making ANOTHER comeback!

We certainly understand that if your hair is thinning, you want to give the impression of more hair not less. While it seems to follow that longer hair gives the impression of thicker hair, it usually has the opposite effect though and that's why The New Pixie is worth considering if you'd like to make your thin hair look thicker this year.

When thinning hair is too long, the extra weight drags your hair down more visibly exposes your scalp. A shorter style will lighten the load and make it easier to lift your hair up and away from your scalp. Pixie Cuts are either super short or just a bit longer than normal and as always, you'll have your trusty Boost N Blend Female Hair Fibres to help you along the way. As these fibres cling close to the the scalp at the root of your hair, application to a Pixie Cut will have a dramatic overall effect.

A super short Pixie Cut doesn't give you anywhere to hide when it comes to thinning hair at your temples and hairline though, but luckily, we've recently  introduced a new Boost N Blend Spray Fibre Applicator which will make applying Boost N Blend Female Hair Fibres to the hairline and temples a cinch!

Pixie Cuts are generally better suited to oval, square and heart-shaped faces, but the good news is that anyone can add their own spin on the cut. As with the Jawline Bob, you can opt for sleek, classic styling or make it more choppy and feathery with slightly more jagged edges.

Pixie Cuts also signify freedom as you're able not only let go of excess length, but also enjoy the freedom of a lower-maintenance do. You won't have to spend as much time blow-drying your hair and you'll be able to reduce the negative effects of heated styling too.

The Modern Shag - A Medium Length Hairstyle for Thin Hair

The Modern Shag looks best with a short and shaggy vibe. This look is an edgy, chic hairstyle option for medium or long thin hair especially if you're not yet ready to opt for one of the shorter styles above.

The 60's and 70's-inspired Modern Shag is all about fresh, textured movement. While the original Shag was intentionally messy and irreverent, the new version is vastly more wearable. The Shag's soft layers create a feminine cut, which is very flattering around your face. While we generally advise keeping thin hair all the one length, when this style is done correctly, the shorter layers on top of the head will minimise excess weight and help create added volume where you need it most.

Next to the bob, no other cut is as versatile as the Shag either. Defined by textured layers, it works across every hair length and  type. It's a great option for women with curly hair to help keep their curls voluminous. A soft fringe is an optional extra which may help to conceal thinning at the hairline too. Check out our video tutorial on how to add volume to your hairline using Boost N Blend Female Hair Fibres and RootZ Grey Root Concealer here:
